The City of Clearwater Public Utilities Department released its annual Water Quality Report. The report contains pertinent water quality information of interest to Clearwater residents. As part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s “Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments,” all water systems throughout the country must publish this annual report.

6/5/2013 - Four Bridges on Island Way to be Replaced
The City of Clearwater recently received condition assessments of nine bridges within the Island Estates subdivision, and four of them show significant deterioration and will need to be replaced. Two bridges are located on Island Way (between Skiff Point and Palm Island SE), and two are on Harbor Passage (from Island Way to Snug Island and also Harbor Island).The City of Clearwater will perform bridge reconstruction, and design is currently underway. Final plans are expected within nine to 12 months.

The City of Clearwater reminds its utility customers that reclaimed water use is encouraged and is available every day. There currently are no restrictions to the number of days that Clearwater residents can used reclaimed water. You may see other cities or counties asking their residents to limit their reclaimed water use due to supply and demand issues. These limits do not apply to reclaimed water in Clearwater.

6/5/2013 - City to Bring Sewer Service to Idlewild Neighborhood in Clearwater; Open House is Scheduled
The City of Clearwater is bringing sanitary sewer service to the Idlewild neighborhood. The project will allow 452 homes to connect to the city’s sanitary sewer system and abandon existing septic systems in the area, in accordance with Pinellas County Health Department’s health standards. Project boundaries include Sunset Point Road to the south, Douglas Avenue to the west, Union Street to the north, and Kings Highway to the east. Construction will begin in June 2013 and continue to 2015.
