Schedule or Cancel an Inspection

You may schedule an inspection with the city of Clearwater through the IVR telephone-automated system, remotely or through ePermit. Below are the directions for each.

If you need to reach an inspector by phone, please call between the hours of 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 4 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

E-Permit

Step 1.Make sure your project is ready for an inspection

Before you schedule an inspection, make sure you have the following in a visible area at the job site for the inspector:

  • An approved set of plans (and revisions).
  • Issued permit and inspection sign-off sheet.
  • A copy of the recorded Notice of Commencement.
  • Any engineering documents for the project.

Keep in mind: If your permit is open for six months without an inspection, it will expire.

Step 2.Login to E-Permit

Click the building tab at the top of the page. Enter the permit number (BCP2012-xxxxx) OR property address into the general search area, scroll down and click search. If searching by address, locate the permit for which you would like to schedule an inspection. Click the permit number to open permit.

Step 3.Click "Schedule or Request an Inspection"

Scroll through the list of inspections to choose the one you would like to schedule. Click continue and pick the day you would like the inspection to occur. Inspections can occur the next business day or any business day after the day you are scheduling the inspection.

Step 4.Click "All Day"

Click "All Day" under Available Times for the day you requested. Click continue to review your choices. 

Step 5.Click "Finish to Schedule the Inspection" or "Cancel" to Make Changes

Remote Inspections

Step 1.Make sure your project is ready for an inspection

Before you schedule an inspection, make sure you have the following in a visible area at the job site for the inspector:

  • Issued permit and inspection sign-off sheet.

Step 2.Schedule your inspection

Enter your name, phone number, email, company name if applicable, permit number(s) address and inspection type number. Please upload photographic and/or video file proof of the completed work associated with the permit in question.

Step 1.To schedule an inspection by phone, dial (727) 562-4580 by 12 a.m. (midnight) for next-day inspections.

Please have your active permit number ready to enter and the appropriate inspection code, and follow the instructions below.

Step 2.Press 1 to schedule, cancel, or get inspection results

Step 3.Press 1 for BCP Permits, Press 2 for SGN Permits, Press 3 for FIR permits, Press 4 for TMP permits and Press 5 for ENG permits

Enter the permit number (without the hyphen) (Example: 200112345)

Step 4.Press the number for what service you need

  • Press 1 to confirm the permit number
  • Press 1 to get inspection results
  • Press 2 to schedule an inspection
  • Press 3 to cancel an inspection
  • Press 4 to reschedule an inspection
  • Press 5 to access a different permit
  • Press 0 to speak to a Customer Service Representative for assistance
  • Enter the 3-digit inspection code, then press #
  • Press * to enter another inspection code
  • Press 1, 2, or 3 for the date of the inspection
  • Press # to confirm the inspection
  • Press * for another inspection on this permit
  • Press # to schedule inspection on another permit

Your inspection is now scheduled! You may call (727) 562-4567 on the day of the inspection, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:25 a.m., to get an estimated time frame of when your inspection will occur.

Failed and partially approved inspections require rescheduling. Failed or same day cancellation (within 24 hours or less) may be subject to a fee that must be paid prior to scheduling inspections.
