Hailing from St. Petersburg, Florida, The Ries Brothers (pronounced “Rees”) are a force to be reckoned with on the music scene. This dynamic duo, Charlie and Kevin Jordan Ries, blends rock, blues, funk, and reggae into a soulful and sophisticated sound that captivates audiences.

Charlie, the elder brother (28), delivers powerful vocals while simultaneously laying down the groove on drums and keyboard bass, creating a unique and full sound. Kevin Jordan (25) complements him perfectly with his guitar, ukulele, and melodic wizardry, adding layers of sonic creativity and soulful harmonies.

The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts located at Ruth Eckerd Hall is currently one of the largest providers of arts education and community engagement experiences in the nation.

The school offers a variety of arts education classes to students of all ages with the goal of changing lives through the performing arts. The Ries Brothers’ participation in the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts provided the brothers with the opportunity to perfect songwriting techniques, engage in musical workshops and build the confidence and skills they needed as artists.

"We are so proud of Charlie and Kevin - they have literally grown up with us walking through our doors as young boys who loved music and now they return as professional, accomplished musicians well on their way to becoming as well-known as the artists they are now playing alongside of every year on stages across the country. We have been cheering them on every step of the way and can't wait to see what is next for these talented alumni,” said Marcia P. Hoffman Vice President & Chief Education and Community Engagement Officer Sharon Reid-Kane, Ed.D.

Charlie and Kevin Jordan Ries added, “Ruth Eckerd Hall has meant so much to us over the years, and we are incredibly stoked and honored to play The BayCare Sound for the first time!! We grew up on their stages, from Clearwater Jazz Holiday and Blast Friday to the Capitol Theatre and the main Hall, these venues mean the world to us and it feels so good to be coming home to play their biggest stage!”

After studying at the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts, the brothers performed at Clearwater Jazz Holiday, where their talent caught the attention of legendary band Chicago, leading to regional tours and a decision to chase their musical dreams full-time.

The Ries Brothers’ captivating live performances have earned them a loyal following across various musical genres. They’ve graced major stages, sharing the spotlight with renowned artists like G Love & Special Sauce, Stick Figure, Pepper, Galactic, Stephen Marley, 311, and Iration. They’ve also rocked major festivals like Okeechobee Music Fest, Sunfest, Cali Roots, Gasparilla, and Summer Camp.
