Fire Inspections

These individuals perform fire inspections in over 10,000 commercial properties within the Clearwater fire district. They ensure compliance with all fire and life safety codes, and Florida State statutes required under the Florida Fire Prevention Code. Properties that are inspected can range from day-care centers to assisted living facilities, schools, restaurants and other businesses. Items that are inspected include fire extinguishers, fire protection sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, fire alarms and occupant loads.

Fire inspections' objective is to reduce incidents of unintentional injuries and property loss from fire or other hazards by enforcing code and statute compliance, while simultaneously heightening the life safety awareness of our citizens.

Fire Investigations

Fire Investigations is responsible for the investigation of fires for determination of cause and origin by state statute. The accelerant detection K-9 is used in fire investigations under the training and supervision of a certified fire inspector/investigator.

Construction Services

Construction services performs all fire plans reviews, attends all preconstruction meetings, and conducts all final fire inspections, including: initial underground fire line testing, fire equipment and fire suppression acceptance testing, and certificate of building occupancy inspections. The overall objective is to provide builders and developers with the information needed to have a quick and smooth transition through the plans review process and to achieve a 10-day turnaround time on all plan reviews.
