Below are the road and lane closures happening in the city of Clearwater:

Utility Projects

  • Jeffords Street is currently closed due to a reclaimed-water break between Bay Avenue and Druid Road near Morton Plant Hospital. Utilities crews are on site making repairs. Follow detours signs.
  • Portions of Casler Avenue were recently impacted by a sanitary-sewer main break. The roadway is being temporarily repaired for normal traffic throughout the holidays, and the permanent roadway repair will be scheduled after the new year.
  • As of Dec. 20, Grand Central Street is closed between S Myrtle Avenue and Prospect Avenue for an undetermined amount of time due to an emergency sewer repair. Residents will still be able to access their homes.

Road Construction

  • Baker Avenue between Drew Street and the roundabout just north of Drew Street is currently closed to traffic, now through Dec. 24, due to the removal of two memorial monuments. Follow detour signs along Hobart Avenue and Ridgewood Street.
  • The Florida Department of Transportation will be working on the traffic signal at Dr. Kiran C. Patel Boulevard at State Road 60. Expect lane closures for both east and west bound traffic. The work will begin at 8 p.m. and ends around 6 a.m. each day, through Dec. 19. Expect traffic delays.

Construction activities at the Clearwater Beach Marina began Dec. 5, 2024, and are expected to go through March 1, 2025, prior to the start of spring break. There is no detour. Drivers should give themselves more time along this route, use caution, and watch for construction crews and pedestrians. Traffic changes include the following (see the map):

    • Northbound traffic along Coronado Drive will go from two lanes to one lane, starting at Third Street to the roundabout.
    • Northeast-bound traffic along South Gulfview Boulevard will go from two lanes to one lane, starting at the Wyndham Grand crosswalk to the Coronado Drive intersection.
    • The east Coronado sidewalk will be closed in the vicinity of the marina’s west seawall, and pedestrians will follow a detour route around the work zone using existing crossings. This pedestrian detour is fully ADA accessible.
  • The westbound inside/median lane of State Road 60 from Island Way to the Clearwater Memorial Causeway Bridge is currently closed through March 10, 2025, weather permitting, so crews can perform drainage improvements. The inside median lane will be closed for the entire project. Additionally, a pedestrian detour will be implemented on the south side of the corridor. This is a project by the Florida Department of Transportation. (This project originally was anticipated to wrap up Dec. 6, 2024, but has now been extended through March 10, 2025.)
  • North- and south-bound median lanes of Island Way, between Skiff Point and Dory Passage, will be closed for approximately eight months. The project started in August 2024 and goes through May 2025. The closure is due to the replacement of an iron cast water main along with other underground utility work. Flaggers will be present at times, so expect some traffic delays.
