Clearwater Ranked as 42nd Best Fleet in NAFA's 100 Best Fleets Contest

The city of Clearwater's Fleet Division has secured its seventh consecutive recognition as one of the "100 Best Fleets in North America," a distinction sponsored by 100 Best Fleets in America and Governing Magazine. Furthermore, Clearwater proudly claims the 42nd spot out of 38,000 public fleets. The National Fleet Management Association (NAFA), the largest membership association in the vehicle fleet industry, revealed the rankings during the April Institute and Expo, the largest fleet event of 2024.

For more than 20 years, the 100 Best Fleets in the Americas program has celebrated exceptional public fleet operations, fostering advancements in the fleet industry. Applicants are reviewed based on 12 Criteria for Excellence, which are designed to spotlight outstanding initiatives within fleet operations.

The Clearwater Fleet Division plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a fleet of more than 1,800 city vehicles and equipment. The Fleet Division serves various departments including Clearwater Police, Clearwater Fire & Rescue, Clearwater Solid Waste/Recycling, Public Utilities, Public Works, Clearwater Gas, and Parks and Recreation. With a dedicated team of 34 full-time employees, the Fleet Division ensures the efficient operation and upkeep of these essential resources.

The city of Clearwater's 42nd position in this year's competition reflects a multitude of initiatives spearheaded by our esteemed fleet team. These initiatives span accountability, technology integration, collaborative efforts, innovation, adept financial management, and emphasis on quality, amongst others.
