Festive Fall Events in Clearwater

Clearwater is gearing up for a spooktacular fall season with a variety of events taking place in parks, libraries and recreation centers throughout the city.


 

Here’s a lineup of the frightening festivities: 

Family Fall Festival 

Get into the autumn spirit with free carnival games, prizes, festive music and picture-perfect photo ops. There will be surprise meet and greets with Halloween characters, too.

Interactive Movie Kids Edition: Casper 

Get into the Halloween spirit as we watch a friendly ghost named “Casper” befriend a human. There will be interactive movie elements, popcorn and crafts. Film is rated PG. Free.

Festive Fall Leaves

Let's explore the wonder of fall leaves with activities and crafts. The Homeschooler's Club provides supplemental education for your homeschooler through fun learning activities and games. We will include a variety of STEAM activities, book club discussions and activities, games, crafts and art projects for children and teens of all ages. Free.

Spooktacular Splash: Dive-In Movie Night 

Float along with Dracula, Mavis and all your favorite monsters.

Pumpkin Plunge

Make a splash and pick your pumpkin from our pumpkin patch in the activity pool. After you pick your pumpkin, enjoy a decoration station along with crafts, games, prizes and a haunted trail. Remember to wear your bathing suit. Pre-register until Oct. 11. Pre-registered cost is $2 with a recreation card, $3 without. Day-of cost is $5 with a recreation card or $6 without.

Salsa at the District: Oktoberfest

Get ready for an unforgettable celebration of salsa with a fantastic lineup of performers, talented dancers and amazing DJs. 

  • Saturday, Oct. 12, 6-11 p.m. 

  • The District in Downtown Clearwater, 400-500 Cleveland St. 


Create a Fall Macramé Wreath 

At the monthly Creation Station program participants can choose a design, yarn colors, and use other materials to create a Fall Macramé Wreath. Registration is not required, but space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Free.

Festival of Fright 

Join us for a fright night of fun including Halloween carnival games, spooktacular food tucks and family-friendly activities.

STEAM Squad: Halloween Edition 

Join the STEAM Squad for a fun and educational session where kids explore, experiment and learn about how owl’s digest their food. They'll dissect owl pellets and discover their eating habits. Supplies are provided. Registration required. For ages 5-12. Free.

The Homeschooler's Club: Frankenstein Science 

Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, was inspired to write this novel based on the science of the day. Explore the power of electricity through various activities and experiments and see how this power inspired the creation of the fictional character of Frankenstein's monster. Registration is required. Free.

Trunk-or-Treat at Clearwater Beach

Take part in a frightfully fun Halloween event with decorated cars filled with candy. Dress in your favorite costume and enjoy a safe, festive evening with family and friends. Free.

Fall-o-ween at Moccasin Lake

Head to Moccasin Lake Nature Park for fun fall children’s crafts, a costume contest, pumpkin decorating, music in karaoke form, spooky trails and the “Mini-Fluffy Cow Experience.” Event is free; cow experience is $5 per person.

Get ready for a spooktacular evening of trunk-or-treating, delicious food and beverages, and a screening of the movie "Casper" (PG) under the stars. Join us for a ghostly good time that promises to be friendly, not frightening.

Bring your family and friends for a hauntingly good time at this free event. Dress up in your most spooktacular costume, play games, walk the haunted trail and enjoy the spooky activities.

Halloween Dance Party with Mr. Brad! 

A high-energy Halloween performance for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Costumes are encouraged. Registration is not required, but space is limited and offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Free.

Halloween Bubble Time 

Join us for a special Halloween-themed Bubble Time for kids through age 4. Kids can dress up in costume. Pop a bubble, shake a shaker egg, toss a balloon around and dance to the beat.

Halloween-Themed Calligraphic Drawing 

Create a Halloween-themed calligraphic painting with local artist Margot Griffin. All materials will be provided. Registration is required and will open in person at the Clearwater Beach Library on Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. If there are still seats available, online registration will be available Sept. 30. Free.

Halloween Extravanganza! 

Join our local artist Jill Jackson and create fun and spooky Halloween crafts. Registration is not required, but space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. This program is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Clearwater Library Foundation. Free.

Create a mini-gingerbread house for Jack Skellington from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”  Enjoy watching scenes from the movie while creating your own tasty masterpiece. For ages 5 and up. Registration is required. Free.

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! 

This Halloween, participants will enter the netherworld of the film “Beetlejuice” (PG, 1988). During this event, you will find out how they died, create Beetlejuice bracelets and have special photo opportunities. Costumes are encouraged. Registration is not required, but space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Free.

Sweet Swap 

Donate your Halloween candy or make a donation of items to service members overseas at any Clearwater recreation center.  For every pound of candy donated, earn one ticket for a chance to win prizes.

Creep Into Fall

Join us for an unforgettable free autumn adventure, filled with food, exciting games, lively music, creative crafts and endless fun for all ages.

Clearwater Turkey Trot

Don’t miss this Thanksgiving tradition. Line up before 7 a.m. for the 5K near Keene and Druid roads. The 1-mile race will follow at 9:30 a.m. Neighborhoods along race routes may experience traffic impacts, pedestrians and road closures.
