Other Ways to Pay Your Utility Bill

There are several ways you can pay your Clearwater gas or utility bill.

Avoid paying the convenience fee by paying with direct debit from your checking account, by mail, by drop box, by drive through or in person using cash, check, or money order. Customers who pay their bill electronically or using credit/debit cards will be charged a $2.95 convenience fee.

Direct Debit from Checking Account

Step 1.Gather bank account information

You'll need to have your bank account routing number and account number as they appear on your checks.

Step 2.Gather your utility account number

Make sure you have your Clearwater utility account number. You can find this on your Clearwater utility bill.

Step 3.Enroll online

Complete the direct debit form

Online

With online payment, you can:

  • Set up AutoPay
  • Get text notifications about your bill
  • Pay through text message.
  • See your balance update in the payment portal as soon as you make a payment.
  • Use one-time pay to view and pay your bill without registering.

Step 2.Select your form of payment

We accept electronic check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Venmo or PayPal. There is a fee of $2.95 for this service.

Step 1.Come to the Municipal Services Building

  • Utility Customer Service is located on the first floor of the Municipal Services Building, 100 S. Myrtle Ave. in Clearwater.
  • Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding city holidays.

Step 2.Pay through the drive-thru

  • A drive-thru window facility is available for utility bill payments at 100 S. Myrtle Ave. in Clearwater.
  • Drive-thru service hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on regular business days. 

Step 3.Pay through the dropbox

  • There is a payment dropbox at the Municipal Services Building entrance. 
  • Payments can be dropped off 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Do not place cash in the dropbox.

Step 4.Pay in person

  • The Utility Customer Service is located on the first floor of the Municipal Services Building, 100 S. Myrtle Ave. in Clearwater.
  • Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding city holidays.
  • Services include utility bill payment, requests for connection/disconnection of utility services, and general information.
  • There are no convenience fees or other additional costs for walk-in payments using cash, check, or money order. Customers paying with credit or debit will be charged a $2.95 convenience fee.

Step 1.Write out your check

  • Checks should be paid to the order of "City of Clearwater."
  • Include your account number on your check.

Step 2.Gather utility bill statement

Tear off the top portion of your utility bill and include it with your payment.

Step 3.Place both in your envelope

Pay by automated phone 24/7 by calling (844) 547-2019. There is a fee of $2.95 for this service.

Disconnected or Interrupted Service

  • If your service has been interrupted or is in danger of being disconnected for non-payment, it is recommended that you call (727) 562-4600 during regular business hours to verify the correct payment that is required for reconnection.
  • Then, pay your bill using one of the city's many payment methods.
  • After your payment is processed, you will need to contact Utility Customer Service at (727) 562-4600 during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to arrange reconnection of service.
